Lush, 4 x  4" mixed media mosaic on wood

This work threw me a curve. I intended to create an abstract landscape, simple enough, right? Blue on top, green below. The idea of hills led to curved shapes which excited me individually but as a whole the piece was not coming together. I decided to set it aside and return later with fresh eyes, but on impulse turned it on it's side. Ba-boom! I was finished and I was in love. Indifferent sky and land became "Lush".
Waterfall, 6 x 6 " mixed media mosaic on wood

What curves better than water? All forms of moving water, from a rushing stream to a misty spray, are an endless source of fascination. In part this fascination for me is due to water's symbolic connection to blessings. Think of the shared language around the action of "flow" in poetry, song, and scriptures. "Waterfall" started with the intent to represent both flowing water and individual droplets or splashes of water born on the rush of air a waterfall creates.
